hi there,

We have always been a part of everything else, and everything else has always been a part of us.

My name is Vanessa, and I use she and her pronouns. My mother and I moved to the States when I was 8, and before that, we lived in Shanghai (where my grandfather was born) and Taipei (where my mother was born). The identities I hold largely shape the work I do, and though I am always longing for my ancestral home, I am always connected to her nonetheless.

I am a communications and storytelling enthusiast based in New York City. I believe in telling better stories as a vehicle for impactful movement-building and aim to do so authentically and with integrity. Outside of my day job, I am a writer, amateur analogue photographer, and a collector of community stories and memories of the East Asian diaspora.

As a writer, I promise transparency, honesty, and feeling.

As a human, I value kindness, tenderness, and a collective spirit.

Thank you for stopping by.
